Blue Water Highway Band is an Americana band based in Kyle, Texas. They have been described as “haunted and haunting, tough but melodic, top of the line Americana.”  With their elegant lyrics and energetic melodies, their music is undoubtedly storytelling at its best. Tracks off their album, Things We Carry, cover a wide range of subjects and emotions. Greg Essington and Zach Kibodeaux fuel complex harmonies with operatic elegance. Their hope for their first full-length album was to have people identify with them through the lyrics. “If you’re being honest in your lyrics, it will work for someone else too,” Kibodeaux stated.  The idea behind the album is that, even at their worst, we should never despair about the things we carry inside us. It is a mesmerizing and hopeful album that is sure to inspire every listener. Blue Water Highway Band made their MusicFest debut last year in the Bear River. They made their rounds in Steamboat, bringing their signature harmonies and high energy to the Big Tent, Dung Beetle Saloon, and the all-new MusicFest Media Lounge. The band says that their favorite experience of the fest was opening for Randy Rogers and Wade Bowen’s Hold My Beer and Watch This set, but their lodge’s hot tub in the snow was a close second.
