After two years of study at Texas State University in San Marcos, Kyle Park took the money that was supposed to pay for the last half of his education and recorded an album, releasing it on his own record label. Since then, his singles have regularly settled in the Texas Music Chart’s Top 10, with his 2013 single “The Night Is Young” reaching No. 1. He has performed in Europe, and opened for artists such as George Strait, Gary Allan, Clint Black, Eli Young Band and other country headliners. His career is young. His past is impressive. His future seemingly has plenty more in store. His latest album The Blue Roof Sessions is no exception. This incredible album was recorded on the shores of Lake Travis, just outside of Austin, in a house with a blue tile roof. The Blue Roof Sessions were as organic as sessions can be. The result is a milestone in Park’s catalog. Those who have followed him these past 10 years or so will recognize his sound — raw, heartfelt and rooted in the honest-to-God, real country music. But they’ll also notice something different — a tougher edge and a beat that slams a little harder. Yes, this is Kyle Park, no doubt about it.
